Mijn vrije interpretatie van de themazin werd deze: waarom? zomaar? In de tekst beschrijf ik waarom Nederland Nederland heet en dat is een wist-je-datje. Heb ik me toch aan het thema gehouden, maar dan op mijn eigen wijze (of eigenwijze wijze haha). Ik heb een plattegrond van het stadje aan de layout toegevoegd, een klein souveniertje.
De journaling is als volgt:
Natuurlijk moesten we ook naar het plaatsje - Nederland- in Colorado.
Het eerste wat we zagen was...jawel, hoe kan het ook anders...een cannabisshop. En natuurlijk was het ook een hippieachtig dorpje. We hadden zelf al wilde verhalen verzonnen waarom Nederland dus Nederland heet (een immigrant die het zo genoemd heeft omdat hij er legaal cannabis mocht verhandelen, of anders toch gewoon een immigrant die het graag zo wilde noemen). Maar nee hoor...niets van dit alles. Nederland heet Nederland omdat het zo laag ligt, zo vertelde de man in het visitor center. Whahaha, wij kwamen niet meer bij. Nederland CO ligt op 2,5 km. hoogte!!! Maar ja, als je dan rond kijkt en al die bergen boven je uit ziet torenen, snap je het toch wel. Een beetje...

My interpretation of the sentence of the week is: Why? Just because? In the journaling I write about the reason why Nederland is called Nederland and that is an 'did you know that'. So I stick to the theme, but in my own way (as usual). I placed a map of the town on my layout, just a little souvenir.

Of course we had to go to the town - Nederland- in Colorado.
The first thing we saw was...o how cliche...a cannabisshop. And of course it was a hippy-esk town. We made up some wild stories why Nederland is called Nederland but the real reason is this one: Nederland is called Nederland because it's on low ground, so the man in the visitor center said. Whahaha, we had to sit down from laughing (what an awful sentence I just wrote). Nederland CO is on a height of 1 mile! But when you look around and see al those majesteus mountaintops, you'll get it...a little...
Crazy guys those Americans (and I mean that in the most kind way!)
